Fifth Anniversary Columbus Police Honor Guard Run

What: The Honor Guard Run is a fundraiser to help with costs from the Columbus Police Honor Guard, including funeral services for fallen officers.
Cost: Free to watch. To run, costs are $25 for Kids Fun Run, $45 for Honor Guard VIRTUAL Race and Honor Guard 5K. There is no registration the day of the race.
New York Islanders at Columbus Blue Jackets
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Where: Nationwide Arena, Columbus
What: The city's NHL team opens its season at home Friday as it hopes for a successful follow-up to its franchise-record point total from the 2016-17 season.
Cost: Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster and are available from $34 to $217.
All American Quarter Horse Congress
When: Through October 29
Where: Ohio Expo Center
What: The world's largest single-breed horse show, which includes more than 23,500 horse show entries and many special events.
Cost: Free. Special events have a cost of admission.
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Ohio History Center and Ohio Village.
What: A celebration of Ohio's archaeological sites. from the American Indian earthworks to Lake Erie shipwrecks.

Oakland Nursery Fall Festival

What: Fall-themed activities for families, including a pumpkin weigh-off and all-you-can-carry pumpkins.
