Local chess champ hopes for another victory
Maggie Feng, 16, from Dublin, will be competing at the U.S. Women's Championships. It is being held in the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis on March 28 through April 10, 2017.
Feng has been a National Master since 2014 and Woman Candidate Master since 2013. Maggie became the first girl in history to win the K-9 U.S. Junior High School Championship. She now finds herself in company of other previous winners of the K-9 Championship, including Fabiano Caurana and Hikaru Nakamura.
She is competiting for a prize of $100,000.
