For the last month ABC 6/FOX 28 and Big Lots have partnered to Share the Joy surprising a handful of women shopping at their polaris store with $500 gift cards.

The final winner was nominated by viewers. They were asked to nominate a woman who makes a difference in their community. Hundreds were nominated, but he story of Nicole Ridley couldn't go unnoticed.

ABC 6/FOX 28's Katie McKee then surprised her at her home, $500 gift card in hand. Without hesitation she shared how she plans to use it.

"Thank you so much now we can buy that little girl stuff there's a little girl on Facebook and her mom is pleading for help and I want to be able to do that, but I don't know how we were going to manage to do that," said Ridley.

Ridley said she recently came across a post on Facebook in a community group, a mom needing help to give her 5 year old daughter a christmas. She said she wants to make that happen for the mother she doesn't even know.

"I reached out to her the other day trying to get a gauge for what her daughter likes and what maybe we could afford," said Ridley.

Ridley was nominated by her neighbor Charles. He wrote about how she does whatever she can to help children. He said she recently welcomed three neglected children into her home, all under the age of 10.

"I have a pretty soft spot in my heart for kids unfortunately there are a lot of children in this community that don't have the best home lives so I try to step in when I can," said Ridley.

Along with the gift card for Ridley, Big Lots offered money towards a charity of her choice, Nationwide Children's Hospital. Ridley was in tears at the news.

"For kids," she said. "That's the best part!"

McKee asked Ridley what she would say to her neighbor Charles who reached out.

"It's not very often that people take the time to point out the good it's always the negative I appreciate it more than he'll ever know," she said.

ABC 6/FOX 28 wants to thank everyone who helped Share the Joy this holiday season.
