Local brides: Wedding planner disappears after taking thousands of dollars in deposits
Several Central Ohio brides are stunned after giving a local wedding planner thousands of dollars for their weddings and now they can’t find her.
Sasha Martin contacted ABC 6/FOX 28 after Reign Event Venue closed its doors and her wedding planner, Kizzy Cassel, hasn’t returned any of Sasha’s calls.
“I have my head piece for my head, my dress isn’t here because he’s nosy, and I have my shoes and I have the wagon for my son and I have my girls' dresses, but no venue.”
Martin and her fiancé, Ledale Howard, will wed on Saturday. They have been planning their wedding for months, sending out dozens of invitations with her reception at Reign Event Venue, but that building is closed and the wedding planner, Cassell, is nowhere to be found.
Martin gave Cassell a $2,500 deposit for the reception, but in the end of July, Martin says Cassell was not returning her calls or texts. ABC 6/FOX 28 learned that other brides who gave Cassell a deposit have not heard from the wedding planner.
A note on the reception building’s door claims there’s a cease-and-desist on Cassell. ABC 6/FOX 28 tried to contact Cassell several times, as well as her attorney. The owner of the property doesn’t want to talk.
Thankfully, Martin and Howard found another reception hall to hold their wedding. They are notifying all their friends and relatives of the new location.
