Pup nearly beaten to death finds home in Lancaster

Detectives say a violent ex-con beat a pit bull puppy so badly that his right leg had to be amputated clear to his hip.

The man accused of nearly killing the animal, Marcus Smiley, lives outside of Pittsburgh. Detectives said he'll be charged with animal cruelty, a second-degree misdemeanor.
