Athens water main break closes Ohio University Thursday
ATHENS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) —
A water main break in Athens has forced Ohio University Athens Campus to close Thursday.
The water main break has affected water around much of the city according to the City of Athens. A 'boil order' was issued earlier Thursday morning.
"As of 7:45 a.m. the University is closed. Essential personnel will need to report to work. Additional updates will be provided throughout the morning," said Ohio University in an alert on their website.
They added at 8:34 a.m., "Please note that Ping Center, Alden Library and Baker University Center are closed today. Campus Care/Hudson Health Center and Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) are closed. Students who require care should visit the emergency room or urgent care."
Around 10 a.m., the university noted that the Hudson Health Center now has running water and is open.
