Best Bite: Jack & Benny's Barnstormer Diner (recipe)

Jack & Benny’s Diner brings its signature “Gut Buster” to The Ohio State University Airport at 2160 West Case Road.

Owners Hilda Garcia and her husband, Genaro Garcia, took over the diner on Nov. 11th.

ABC 6/FOX 28 was lucky enough to try their signature dish, "The Gut Buster," made by Robert Espinoza Sulca.

Here's how it's made:

  • 1 hash brown
  • 1 potato pancake
  • 1 bacon
  • 1 ham
  • 1 egg
  • 1 sausage patty with cheese
  • All stacked and topped with country gravy and a side of toast

“These were all inspired by Ohio State students – hangover food, basically,” said Geno Garcia owner of Jack & Benny’s.

Garcia describes the restaurant as a cozy, no-nonsense diner with modest pricing, classic drip coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice, nearly 30 omelets and several lunch options, including salads, sandwiches and wraps.

Breakfast is served all day, and there are plenty of options lighter than the Gut Buster. Only a few plates exceed the $10 mark.

Jack & Benny's at The Ohio State Airport is open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. during the week, and Saturday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

This is a great place to bring your friends and family, especially if you love aviation! The restaurant is in an airplane hangar.
