5th Line rallies to watch Jackets play in Stanley Cup Playoffs
COLUMBUS, Ohio —
While the Columbus Blue Jackets vie for the Stanley Cup playoffs Saturday in the nation's capital, fans in central Ohio created an arena-like atmosphere their own to cheer on the team.
Hundreds packed inside and on the patio at the R Bar in the Arena District as the Blue Jackets open their eastern conference quarterfinals series against the Washington Capitals.
"You've got to with the people, with the fans, and you just have to breathe it in" said Philip Ghearing, who traveled from the Dayton to Columbus to be part of the fun.
The fun and parties started Saturday morning when the doors opened at R Bar, long before the game started.
"Moods have been great, ecstatic, and ready to take this one" said R Bar owner Michael Darr.
Pete Murcott moved to Columbus from San Diego six months ago.
He wasn't a hockey fan on the west coast, now he's hooked.
"I live right above here and so, I just got sucked into it, and now, I love it" said Mucott, as he enjoyed the game outside in Saturday's mild conditions.
