Court documents reveal new details on deadly Westerville fire
WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) —
Westerville Fire investigators shared new details on Allview Road fire that killed a teen and hospitalized another woman last Friday.
17-year-old Hannah Sarver was killed according to Westerville firefighters.
Per court documents, a man who was in the home said he was making french fries on the stove then fell asleep.
"I observed a pot on the stove top, and the Westerville Fire Marshall's preliminary investigation is that fire started on the stove where french fries were being cooked," said an officer.
The investigating officer said the man made no statements to the detectives that he turned off the stove.
A blood and urine sample was requested to determine if alcohol or drugs impaired his ability to recognize the danger, which could have caused the fire.
