Daughter speaks for first time about mom's disappearance 15 years ago
KENT, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- Wednesday marked the 15th anniversary since anyone has seen or heard from a missing Marysville mother.
Patricia Adkins disappeared on July 29, 2001. The Union County Sheriff says Adkins was last seen leaving the Honda of America plant in Marysville at the end of her second shift.
For the first time her daughter Michaley Adkins is talking about her mom's disappearance and how life has been growing up without her mother.
"It's been a challenge: growing up, going through 15 Mother's Days without a mom, 15 birthdays without a mom," said Adkins.
Michaley was only seven when her mom went missing. She says she doesn't remember much about the days surrounding the media circus about her mom's case.
She says she's blocked it out. It's how she learned to cope with the sadness.
Michaley is now 22. She's grown into a lovely young woman, and is going to grad school at Kent State.
"I think my mom would be proud," she says.
After 15 years she's finally opening up about the case. She hopes someone with information about her mom's disappearance will come forward.
"We want closure. I hope someone will let us know what happened."
