Around 8,000 riders took off on bikes from Downtown Columbus for Pelotonia 2017.

Teams rode anything from 25 miles to 180 miles, all part of their effort to fund cancer research.

All the money raised at the event goes to the Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center, according to the Pelotonia website.

People have been biking every year to end cancer since 2008. It is an emotional day as many cancer survivors and family members of cancer victims ride as part of their mission.
