The family of 74-year-old Robert Godwin Senior, whose execution-style Easter murder was posted on Facebook, says dealing with his death has been a nightmare.

"They said somebody shot him and I said he had fell victim to the neighborhood still not thinking he had got killed, and it was on the internet where everyone could see. Robert was a private person," Godwin's sister, Ruby Godwin-Fisher, said.

Cleveland police say 37-year old Steve Stephens was the killer.

Authorities say Stephens fatally shot himself Tuesday morning after a police chase in Erie, Pennsylvania.

"I didn't want to see him kill himself, I hoped he would have gotten apprehended" said Terrance Fisher, Godwin's nephew.

The family says Godwin was a loving father and grandfather. Now they hope people honor him not by how he died, but how he lived.

They still have many unanswered questions.

"Why him? What did you get out of it?" Said Kodi Baines, Godwin's granddaughter.
