Family of crash victim searching for answers after memorial cross disappeared
ETNA, Oh (WSYX/WTTE) —
A family that is already dealing with heartbreak, is being hit with fresh pain.
Donald Simpsons family says someone took a roadside memorial honoring Simpson.
The roadside memorial was the only thing the Simpson family says they had left, to remember the son they just lost.
"It was special to my family and his friends. It's just not fair that somebody is that cruel," said Dawn Simpson who is the crash victim's mother.
The Simpson family is now forced to replace the roadside memorial with a much smaller cross and flowers.
The family believes the memorial was stolen sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
The Simpson's said they called just about every law enforcement agency they could think of, they even called the Ohio Department of Transportation.
At this point, nobody seems to know what happened to the 7-foot-tall cross that was cemented into the ground.
"All I ask is, please bring it back. Contact me on Facebook, tell me you're sorry. I don't care who you're that took it. I just want it back, please," said Simpson.
