Former Columbus firefighter gets probation in decade-old child abduction case
DELAWARE, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- A veteran Columbus firefighter with more than two decades of service has been sentenced for a crime more than ten years old.
Timothy Durbin, 53, received five years probation after he pleaded guilty to one count of felony abduction of a child in September. He was also charged with rape and gross sexual imposition of a child under the age of 10 following an indictment in December 2015.
Prosecutors said the original charges were filed in October 2014 after sexual misconduct was reported to Genoa Township Police. Those were dismissed only for the state to reindict him in December 2015.The alleged crimes took place from July 2003 through July 2004.
He was also ordered to pay $2,250 in fines and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
