LOGAN, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- A member of the Hocking County Sheriff's Office is in the hospital after they struck head-on by another vehicle early Sunday morning.

Lieutenant Brian McManaway was patrolling Chieftain Drive when a pickup truck drifted left of center and struck his cruiser head-on, according to post on the sheriff's office's Facebook page.

Logan police officers, deputies, and firefighters responded to the scene after McManaway radioed for help.

Both McManaway and the other driver were removed from their vehicle, one of which caught fire, officials said. Each driver was taken to Hocking Valley Community Hospital before they were transferred to a Columbus area trauma center for further treatment. Their conditions are unknown.

The Ohio State Highway patrol is investigating the crash.
