Kilo of cocaine, plus heroin, LSD seized in suburban drug bust
HILLIARD, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) -- A search warrant in New Albany nets a kilo of cocaine, along with heroin, LSD, marijuana and a firearm.
The couple lives in an apartment in the "Villages at New Albany Park" and neighbors were surprised when police came knocking on the door on Thursday. The complex has a New Albany address and is served by City of Columbus Police.
Bin Li Dang, 27, was charged with drug trafficking. Dang was being held at the Franklin County Jail on $100,000 bail. There is an arrest warrant out for Dang's boyfriend Craig Montgomery, also on drug trafficking charges.
"I think drugs are in every community. [It] doesn't really matter how nice it is," said Michael Tuers, who just moved into the complex. "I think it is a myth that they are only in rough areas. Drugs are pretty much anywhere, you just normally don't get caught as often so that might be a little rare."
Hilliard Police Chief Robert Fisher said their drug cases have really led all over the area.
"We know that crime really has no boundaries and it is not uncommon for us to be in other parts of Central Ohio."
Police said $85,000 cash was also seized at Dang's apartment. About 75 percent of that could come back to the community to be used for drug investigations.
"Drugs impact all of us. It doesn't matter where you are at , whether an affluent area [or] a depressed area. There is a drug problem everywhere."
