Man injured following shooting near downtown Columbus

Columbus police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred near downtown Columbus Saturday morning.

According to Columbus Division of police the call came in just before 10:30 a.m. in the 300 block of North High Street.

Police say the victim was taken to Grant Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

Authorities said the suspect was attending a graduation ceremony at the Convention Center, where there was apparently some type of altercation between the victim and at least one other man. The altercation continued outside and escalated into a physical altercation, that occurred in the middle of the street in front of the Hyatt Hotel.

Police say during the altercation another male suspect pulled out a handgun and fired one shot at the victim.

The suspect was described as black man with a shaved head and beard and was wearing dark colored t-shirt with writing on the front and was wearing light colored shorts. Police say the suspect may have fled in a red Toyota with a temporary license plate.

Police said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

This investigation is still on going at this time.
