Ohio man killed after struck by plane propeller blades


A Millersport, Ohio man was killed after he was struck by plane propeller blades Saturday afternoon.

According to investigators, the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. at Wynkoop Airport in Knox County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 79-year-old Larry Hoover was starting his 1941 Aeronca 65-CA fixed wing single engine airplane when he was struck by the propeller blades after the engine started.

He was rushed to OSU Medical Center by MedFlight, but he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m.

OSHP added drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor.

The incident remained under investigation.
