President Trump expressed his condolences on the Westerville shootings on Twitter Sunday afternoon.

Trump also tweeted that he had spoken to Governor John Kasich and that he offered his prayers to the two Westerville police officers that were killed in the line of duty on Saturday.

Condolences and prayers to all for the horrible shooting of two great police officers from @WestervillePD. This is a true tragedy!

The two officers were identified as Officer Anthony Morelli and Officer Eric Joering.

Joering, 39, spent 17 years on the force. Morelli, 54, had 30 years with Westerville police.

Governor Kasich also took to Twitter to express his appreciation for the President's phone call.

One officer was killed at the scene, the other was taken to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in critical condition, where they succumbed to their injuries.
