Situation under control after Licking County chemical plant explosion

Firefighters say the situation is under control after an explosion at a chemical plant in Licking County overnight Wednesday.

The Hebron Fire Chief said around 12:30 a..m., there was some sort of explosion and fire at the Clean Harbors Environmental recycling facility, in the 500 block of Milliken Drive.

According to the company's website, they recycle a variety of used industrial solvents. Firefighters weren't able to say what chemicals, if any, caused the explosion.

A hazmat crew has been on scene through the night. No injuries were reported.

The biggest concern Wednesday morning was the environmental impact. The EPA has been at the scene, monitoring for abnormalities. Testing has yet to reveal any issues.

State fire marshals were called to the scene.
