State representative warned about sexually explicit messages before resignation
COLUMBUS, Ohio —
A week after Rep. Wes Goodman, R - Cardington, resigned for inappropriate behavior in his office, there are new allegations about the actions that led to his sudden exit. Several national reports have surfaced saying the 33-year-old married lawmaker pursued relationships with other men.
House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger's staff shared several screenshots of Facebook conversations they said Goodman had with another man. In one, he spoke of skinny dipping in a Jacuzzi. In another the two discussed drinking wine together, smoking cigars and hanging out in a hot tub. The last message was far more explicit. He bragged about getting oral sex from other men.
House officials said they confronted Goodman about the messages but he said they were fake.
ABC6/FOX28 has left multiple messages at Goodman's Cardington home and on his home phone number but none of those messages have been returned.
Goodman took down his campaign website but on it he touted himself as a family values candidate who believed in natural marriage between a man and a woman.
House officials said they never received any complaints about Goodman until the day he resigned. They wouldn't name the person who exchanged the messages or who shared them. They said the screenshots weren't from anyone who works at the Statehouse.
