Dozens of people stood and paid their respects to Kirkersville Police Chief Steven Eric Disario, Friday as a police procession made its way from Columbus to a Grove City Church.

"He's a servant to us, to our community, to keep it safe," said former Lucasville Prison corrections officer Michael Spalding, who stood outside a Columbus funeral home and watched as DiSario's casket began its police escort to the Grove City Church of The Nazarene where services will be held Saturday morning.

Neighbors, many who did not know Chief DiSario, who was killed in the line of duty last week, stood quietly outside the church to pay their respects.

"This city is a very loving community, we've been out here before for our boys, lost in war," said neighbor Linda Danneman.

Hundreds of law officers from across Ohio and around the country are expected to attend DiSario's 10 a.m. funeral at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene.
