Customers say barbershop owner killed in dispute over price of haircut
MT. DORA, Florida — Customers of a barbershop owner in Florida say he was shot to death over the price of a haircut.
Customer Nicole Russell said she has taken her children to the barbershop since they were young. She said the suspect told the victim he only had $2 and the victim told him he needed to come up with $8 more for a haircut.
Witnesses said the suspect returned a short time later with a gun and shot the victim. The victim died at the scene.
Russell said moments after the shooting, other witnesses jumped the suspect, fighting him to get his gun.
Police arrived and took the suspect into custody and recovered the weapon. A nearby business owner said the victim was a husband and a father who was from Puerto Rico.
Russell said customers drove from across Central Florida just to visit the barbershop.
