Dog killed in drive-by shooting
ANNA, Texas (WSYX/WTTE) – A grieving family and police are trying to understand why someone shot and killed their beloved dog for apparently no reason.
A 6-year-old St. Bernard/Collie mix named Chico was shot outside his family home on Wednesday.
Witnesses said they saw two males in an older, white single cab pickup truck shoot a neighbor's dog before they drove away down a county road.
The dog's owner said had Chico not been hit, the bullet would've gone inside the home.
“He took a bullet for somebody that could’ve been a little child or one of my grandkids,” Lopez told KTVT.
The Collin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting.
