Suspect in custody after bomb threat at LaGuardia Airport
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Police arrested an individual at LaGuardia Airport in New York for making a bomb threat at a Spirit Airline ticket counter inside Terminal B, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The Port Authority Police Department took the suspect into custody where they were questioned by authorities. A bomb squad also performed a search of the area and the suspect's bags and "determined the bag presented no threat."
The increased police presence from the incident led to increased traffic in the area.
Terminal B resumed normal operations around 9:25 a.m.
LaGuardia Airport issued several tweets about the increased police presence and cautioned travelers to allow for extra time due to increased traffic congestion in the area.
