Maryland cop suspended after being charged for allegedly stealing items from Walmart
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) —
A Montgomery County Police officer has been suspended after he was charged for allegedly stealing goods for several months from a Walmart store in Germantown.
Jose A. Barahona, 25, was charged with theft less than $100, theft $100 to under $1,500, and theft scheme $100 to $1,500, according to Montgomery County Police.
Authorities say the officer was suspended with pay.
Barahona worked as a security guard at Walmart. According to Montgomery County Police, surveillance video showed that he stole items from the store between December 2017 and February 2018.
Barahona was hired as a Montgomery County Police officer in October 2014 and was working as a patrol officer in the department's fourth district.
