This woman crochets sleeping mats for homeless people using plastic grocery bags
SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV) — Shirley Mullins, a Nevada resident, is using her crocheting skills for something good.
Mullins, her family and a group of friends are crocheting used grocery bags into sleeping mats to donate to the homeless community around the region.
"I'm a giver and if I see somebody that needs something I try to make sure I'm able to give them that," said Mullins. "It's really hard to see people out there that don't have anything; pretty much, and you just feel that you gotta do something."
For the past two years, she has been teaching her friends and family how to fold, cut, and knit the plastic bags into large blankets.
