A few people in an Obetz neighborhood said they're being blinded by flood lights late at night.

They said it's coming from the new 6,500-seat Fortress Obetz, which is the former Columbus Motor Speedway.

Construction should be complete sometime in August. The stadium will be used for sports and concerts. City officials said it will also bring hotels and restaurants to the area.

Melanie Lovingshimer said she lives right across the street from the lights and often has trouble putting her son to bed.

"It blinds us. It's upstairs in the bedrooms, in the front," said Lovingshimer.

Rod Davisson, the city manager for Obetz, said the lights won't be a problem in a couple of weeks, because crews are just testing them.

"They have to be adjusted and focused so that you don't have much light spill over outside of the stadium," said Davisson.

Davisson said the lights are running late night. He says they are normally shut off before 9:30 p.m. or no later than 10:30 p.m.

"We are trying to be sensitive to those folks that may be having that light coming in their yards," said Davisson.

A few neighbors who live the closest to the stadium said the lights don't bother them too much.
