Morrow County man accused of sawing off injured horse's leg
FREDERICKTOWN, Ohio —
The Morrow County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding Mark Hill, a man accused of cutting off one of his horse's legs.
Sheriff John Hinton says what happened at the horse farm is still under investigation, so he can't give many details, but sources told ABC 6/FOX 28's Tom Sussi that one of Hill's horses recently broke a leg. Rather than take it to a vet, witnesses said Hill amputated the leg above the knee using a saw.
Morrow County Humane Society recently took possession of the animal and put it down.
Hill has been issued an arrest warrant for animal cruelty. Since a horse is considered livestock and not a companion animal, it's a second-degree misdemeanor, rather than a felony. Hill could face up to six months in jail.
If you know anything about his whereabouts, call Morrow County Sheriff's Office at 419-946-4444.
