Beyond the Game: NFL QB, former Buckeye Cardale Jones will remember Fallen 15 Sunday
GAHANNA -- Former Buckeye fan favorite Cardale Jones will put 15 names on his cleats for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.
Those 15 are from the Fallen 15, a Central Ohio-based charity to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice including Marine Ryan E. Miller. The Lance Corporal and St. Francis DeSales graduate was killed in the Anbar Province of Iraq 11 years ago.
Fallen 15 was created to honor and celebrate the lives of Fallen Service Members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Fallen 15 pays tribute to these heroes by Veteran Activation within the community and restoration of bonds and camaraderie forged through adversity.
Ryan's Father, Ed, spoke to ABC-6 Thursday on keeping his son's memory alive and the gesture by Jones on Sunday. "We're very grateful and I just wish I could hug him (Jones)," said Miller. Ed and his wife Mary started a foundation and golf outing to honor their son with proceeds going to St. Francis DeSales to defray tuition and fees for deserving students based on community service and financial need.
