Berhalter gets tossed but enjoys the view of 2-nil win over New England

COLUMBUS -- Federico Higuain scored his 42nd regular-season goal on a nice look from Ola Kamara who tallied his 6th of the year en route to a 2-0 win over visiting New England Saturday night.

To date, Higuain has made 132 regular-season appearances (127 starts), scoring 42 goals and providing 39 assists. Higuain is tied for fourth place in Crew SC’s all-time regular-season goals list with Edson Buddle, behind Jeff Cunningham (64), Brian McBride (62) and Stern John (44). Through nine appearances (all starts) in the 2017 MLS regular season, Higuain has registered three goals and four assists.

Midfielder Justin Meram provided an assist on Ola Kamara’s goal in tonight’s match and has now recorded a goal or an assist in every home match this season through six home contests. In the last seven total home matches dating back to October 1, 2016, Meram has notched five goals and four assists. Tonight’s assist was Meram’s 30th regular-season helper.

Forward Ola Kamara tallied his sixth goal of the season and his 22nd goal for Crew SC in 35 appearances (30 starts) by scoring the Black & Gold’s first goal in tonight’s match. He also provided the helper on Federico Higuain’s goal, which was his first assist of the season. The Norwegian has made 10 appearances (all starts) this season.

Captain Wil Trapp made his 100th regular-season start for the Black & Gold in tonight’s match. With his appearance against the Revs, the midfielder became the first Crew SC Homegrown Player to make 100 regular-season starts. Trapp has 103 regular-season appearances to his name after making his MLS debut in 2013.

Goalkeeper Zack Steffen recorded his fifth MLS career win and third MLS career shutout with today’s 2-0 win over New England. He also tied his season and MLS regular-season career-high number of saves with five stops on the night. Steffen has started in all five of the Black & Gold’s wins this season, recording 33 saves in total on the year.

Defender Josh Williams made his 75th appearance (67th start) for Crew SC in tonight’s match. In 2017, Williams has made four regular-season appearances (two starts) for the club. In his MLS career, Williams has made a total of 107 appearances (95 starts)
