COLUMBUS -- Former Crew stars Brad Friedel and Mike Lapper, who went on to long careers in Europe, were back in Columbus as New England coaches Saturday night as the Revolution took on the homestanding Crew SC.

Twice Columbus Crew SC took a lead in the first half, and twice the New England Revolution tied it within minutes as the teams settled for a wild 2-2 draw Saturday night at MAPFRE Stadium.

Columbus went ahead early when left back Milton Valenzuela's cross was inadvertently headed by Revolution defender Andrew Farrell for an own goal. The Revs' Teal Bunbury found the equalizer from a tight angle minutes later.

Gyasi Zardes finished a nice sequence from Pedro Santos and Federico Higuain only to see New England's Cristian Penilla tie it just before the break with a fantastic one-time finish.
