Crew SC open three-game homestand with 3-2 loss to NYCFC

COLUMBUS -- 17,000 plus in the house Saturday night at Mapfre Stadium but they went home disappointed as NYCFC netted a goal in the 76th minute to win it.

Jack Harrison had two scores in the 3-2 win over the Crew SC who dropped back to games.

Some highlights for the Black and Gold. Ethan Finlay registered his 30th regular-season assist for Crew SC in tonight’s match and is now a member of the 30/30 Club. With 30 goals and 30 assists, Finlay is now one of only five Crew SC players to have registered at least 30 goals and 30 assists in the regular season.

The other four players on that list are Jeff Cunningham (64 goals, 44 assists), Brian McBride (62 goals, 45 assists), Guillermo Barros Schelotto (33 goals, 41 asissts) and current teammate Federico Higuain (40 goals, 39 assists). Finlay is currently in eighth place in the all-time assist list for the Black & Gold.

Federico Higuain scored his second goal of the season in tonight’s match against New York City FC. To date, Higuain has made 131 regular-season appearances (126 starts), scoring 41 goals and providing 39 assists. Higuain is fifth in Crew SC’s all-time regular-season goals list, behind Jeff Cunningham (64), Brian McBride (62), Stern John (44), and Edson Buddle (42). Through eight appearances (all starts) in the 2017 MLS regular season, Higuain has registered two goals and four assists.

Midfielder Justin Meram provided a secondary assist on Federico Higuain’s goal in tonight’s match and has now recorded a goal or an assist in every home match this season through five home contests. In the last seven total home matches dating back to October 1, 2016, Meram has notched five goals and three assists. In 2017, Meram has recorded three assists.

Midfielder Kekuta Manneh made his regular-season debut for Crew SC, coming on as a substitute for Ethan Finlay in the 81st minute of tonight’s match against New York City.
