Crew SC: Well traveled designated player Jonathan Mensah arrives with little ego
COLUMBUS -- The Columbus Crew SC are ready to kickoff their 22nd season Saturday on ABC-6.
Saturday’s match is the first of three regular-season matches between Columbus and Chicago during the 2017 Major League Soccer regular season as well as the first of two visits by the Fire to MAPFRE Stadium in 2017.
This is the first match of the 2017 MLS season for the Black & Gold. Columbus and Chicago meet to continue their 2017 regular-season series on Saturday, April 8 at Toyota Park. All-time, Columbus is 17-24-17 against the Fire, including a record of 11-10-7 against the Men in Red in Central Ohio.
Crew SC and Chicago met four times last season in all competitions, both at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois and at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus.
The contest kicks-off at 2:00 p.m. ET and is set to be televised regionally on ABC-6, Spectrum Sports and BCSN2, with Neil Sika, Dwight Burgess and Clay Hall on the call.
Coverage on ABC-6 begins at 2:00 p.m. ET. Exclusively on Spectrum Sports and BCSN2, "Crew SC Matchday," the pre-match show, begins at 1:30 p.m. ET, with "Crew SC Post-Match" immediately following the action. Saturday’s match also airs locally on the radio on CD102.5 FM in English, featuring simulcast audio from the television broadcast. La Mega 103.1 FM has the match airing in Spanish, with Juan Valladares behind the microphone. The Spanish radio calls are also set to be streamed in Spanish on the LaMega1 App and via Tunein Radio as WVKO-FM.
