Crew SC: Zardes with a brace as Black and Gold run unbeaten streak to five games
COLUMBUS -- Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter called it a "very strong performance by our group" after Crew SC blanked Chicago, 3-0 Saturday night at Mapfre Stadium.
The Crew SC certainly didn't appear tired as it closed out three games in eight days. Frederico Higuain started the scoring with a penalty kick early to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Gyasi Zardes netted a pair of goals in the final 45 minutes as the Crew SC ran their unbeaten streak to five games and vaulted near the top of the Eastern Conference.
The 6-3-3 Crew are on the road the next two weekends, at New England and Sporting KC respectively. They return to Mapfre June 2nd against rival Toronto.
