The Football Fever: Buckeyes get verbal commitment from 4-star Toledo linebacker
TOLEDO -- St. John's Jesuit linebacker Dallas Gant plans to be a Buckeye after verbally committing to Ohio State Tuesday afternoon at the school.
Gant is considered the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country. He opted for the Buckeyes over a host of traditional Midwest powers including; Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State.
Gant becomes the 10th member of Ohio State's 2018 recruiting class, and the first linebacker.
According to the Toledo Blade, if Gant signs with the Buckeyes, he will become the first player from a Toledo high school to sign with OSU since former Central Catholic safety Jayme Thompson in 2013. Former OSU offensive lineman Jack Mewhort, who is now with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, is also a St. John's Jesuit product drafted in 2014.
The Buckeyes currently have the highest average recruit ranking of any program in college football according to 247's composite ranking
