The Football Fever: Elflein finds Buckeye connections in new NFL home

Minnesota Vikings center Pat Elflein (WSYX/WTTE)

COLUMBUS -- Pat Elflein moved to center for his senior season and the position switch suited him well.

The Pickerington native was the 2016 Rimington Trophy winner (awarded to the nation's top center), who has a new NFL home after his third round draft selection by the Minnesota Vikings.

Eflein said he's not the only Buckeye in the Vikes locker room.

"Alex Boone is an offensive line starter, Reid Fragel just signed there and Coach Darrell Hazell is there and he was on the staff here," Elflein told ABC 6/FOX 28 Tuesday.

Elflein flies out Thursday for his first NFL mini-camp.

"They have a great program top to bottom," Elflein said. "Rick Spielman is the GM and he set the core values on my visit there and I like that. I think they are a very similar program to Ohio State: just being tough and hard-nosed."
