The Football Fever: Gill fulfills promise and realizes dream as future Buckeye

WESTERVILLE -- Westerville South's Jaelen Gill is an all-purpose back and top-100 recruit nationally. On Wednesday, he became Ohio State's fourth prospect to verbally declare for the Bucks 2018 recruiting class.

In doing so, Gill fulfilled a promise to his late grandfather Eddie Bennett in choosing the Scarlet and Gray. Bennett passed away in April of 2016 and very much enjoyed watching his grandson being recruited.

"I was tearing up when I told him I was going to be a Buckeye and that was his school and he always said you have to prove it and I did," Gill told reporters after announcing his choice in the high school auditorium Wednesday.

Gill is a 6-1, 180-pound running back could be the Bucks hybrid back in waiting. Gill has a flair for the dramatic as he broke the news of his next athletic chapter in a cleverly produced video.

He had Buckeye fans a bit nervous before the decision.

Gill is a multi-talented athlete who could be a high pick in the Major League Baseball Draft this summer.
