Bill Kelly is the Chief Meteorologist for ABC 6/FOX 28. His career has taken him to various cities across the country, including Sacramento, Phoenix, and Cincinnati, and now Ohio's capital city.
"I can't tell you how much I love living in Central Ohio," Bill says. "The Columbus area is a fantastic place to raise a family!"
Bill's love for weather began as a child living in Ypsilanti, Mi. He can still recall the nights spent in the basement while severe weather struck outside. One night in particular brought the tornado sirens (as well as panicking parents) and nearby tornado damage. Even today, more than 40 years later, he still remembers the excitement of that event and wanting to go up and out, rather than stay in and down.
Bill graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a degree in Broadcast News communications/Meteorology minor. He completed the two year Broadcast Meteorology program from Mississippi State University and has been an active, certified member with the National Weather Association for the past 15 years. He's received 6 Emmy awards, 4 AP awards for Best Weather/Anchor in Ohio, and was voted Best Weathercaster in both Columbus Monthly and Phoenix Magazine. He has also made guest appearances 12 times on ABCs Good Morning America and 4 times on World News Tonight.
"Weather is my absolute passion, and I've always wanted to be a television Meteorologist," Bill says. "I feel so incredibly lucky to be doing what I love for a living!"
When he isn't forecasting weather for you on ABC 6/FOX 28, you will find Bill spending time with his wife and 3 daughters. He loves the outdoors -- camping, hiking, golfing, skiing, snowboard, etc. He is a big fan of music, and plays the piano, as well as the guitar. He also enjoys public speaking and is always open to hosting events, especially those that involve local charities.
