New Thurman Cafe Location to Open in Delaware

DELAWARE (Ken Hines) -- The Thurmanator will soon attack hunger north of Columbus.

Thurman Cafe operators have confirmed that a second location of the iconic Columbus restaurant will open at 5 N. Sandusky St. in Delaware in February, 2014.

Thurman, known for its mammoth burgers, has operated in the German Village for more than 70 years, and has been featured nationally in publications and on television programs.

The new version, called Son of Thurman, will operate in Downtown Delaware, which is quickly becoming a destination for lovers of food and central Ohio culture, according to manager Chris Devol.

"Our goal is nothing short of being a part of that revitalization," he said.

Predictably, the expansion news is causing quite a buzz in central Ohio, where the Thurman brand has become a ubiquitous part of a growing food scene.

"I heard about this place opening from people I would not expect to have heard it from, before I ever got the keys to it," Devol said.
