Columbus Woman Dies After Falling at Utah Nat'l Park

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A central Ohio woman has died falling while hiking at a Utah national park.

Zion National Park officials confirmed that Columbus attorney Cheri Hass fell more than 100 feet off a cliff while hiking with friends on September 5.

Park officials said the area where Hass died includes several boulders, ledges, and waterfalls.

"The park staff extends their condolences to Ms. Hass's family and friends," park superintendent Jock Whitworth said. "It is truly a tragedy."

Zion officials have asked the Grand Canyon National Park's helicopter search and rescue team to assist in the recovery operation.
