Problems Signing Up for Obamacare

COLUMBUS (Ben Garbarek) -- Some people are running into problems trying to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.

Online applications opened up on October 1 and millions of people have tried to sign up, but all of that traffic has caused long delays.

'I really went into it (thinking), 'let's see how this works'," said Jeff Duffield.

Duffield signed up his 26 year-old son after his insurance plan wouldn't cover him.

"(I) continued to get errors, the server was busy, the server was down," he said.

He worked on it off and on all day.  He said there were parts of the application he had to fill in over and over again before it submitted properly.

"As the day drug on, I thought someone really needs to figure this out," Duffield said.

After 15 hours, Duffield finally was signed up.

"I looked up and said, 'I made it'," he said.

Healthcare.gov was put into a maintenance mode shortly after its launch to work out some of the kinks.  The website seems to be running more smoothly since then.
