Roberts Road/I-270 Interchange to Open Monday
FRANKLIN COUNTY (Maria Durant/Ken Hines) -- Workers will soon remove road closed signs from the area around the new Roberts Road/I-270 interchange.
The three month project will end Monday evening when the portion of the road impacted by the construction is scheduled to reopen.
The resulting interchange style -- known as diamond diverging -- is the first of its kind in Ohio.
It will be completely different from anything theyve seen, ODOT spokesperson Breanna Watzka said.
The design will allow motorists to veer to the opposite side of the road after driving on to the Roberts road bridge.
The interchange will also allow drivers to enter free-flow ramps with no traffic lights while on the bridge.
It does sound confusing, but what that allows is to have all the ramps free flow continuous, so you dont have to wait at lights like youre used to," Watzka said.
Officials will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the interchange Monday afternoon.
