Good Day Columbus: Super Bowl Snacks Ideas 'Cheese Balls'

The big game is almost here, and we've got your menu covered.

Lifestyle and Food Blogger Shanisty Ireland shares a couple of her Super Bowl "Cheese Balls" snack ideas with Good Day Columbus' Maria Durant and Jesse Pagan.

Mikesell’s Mini Cheese Ball Bites:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature or softened
  • 3/4 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup dried fruit (dried apricots, cherries, and cranberries)
  • 1 1/2 cup mixed nuts finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cup bacon crumbles
  • Mikesell’s Pretzel Sticks
  • 2 tbsp of Italian seasoning

Directions:

  • Mix together cream cheese, white cheddar, fruit, and herbs until smooth. (an electric mixer is best)
  • Form into tablespoon-sized balls and place on a baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  • Roll 6 or so cheese balls in bacon crumbles, pressing them lightly into the cheese so that they stick.
  • Roll 6 or so cheese balls in mixed nuts, pressing them lightly into the cheese so that they stick.
  • Before serving, skewer each bite with a Mikesell’s Pretzel Stick.

Mikesell’s Cheese Ball:

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped fine
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Groovy Mikesell’s Potato Chips, crushed
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

  • Mix cream cheese, green onions, dill, and cheddar cheese together until smooth. (an electric mixer is best)
  • Place mixture on plastic wrap, cover, and form into a ball.
  • Refrigerate for at least one hour.
  • Put pecans and Mikesell’s Groovy Chips on a plate. Remove Cheese Ball from plastic wrap and roll in pecans and crushed chips until well-coated.
  • Place on a platter with crackers or Mikesell’s Pretzels and serve.
