Good Day Gardening: Protecting your plants from the summer heat

The heat is on! We stopped by Darby Creek Nursery this week. The owner, Jeff Turnbull, said there is still plenty of time to plant or replant. Since it has been so wet The last few weeks, some plants may have root rot and start wilting. He said there is still plenty of time to fix that by starting over. He also said with the heat coming on this weekend and next week to keep an eye on soil moisture. Most things will be fine to plant in the heat, with the exception of sod because it has to be watered so heavily. The nursery is still running a 25 to 50% off sale on most items as well.
