The Seasoned Farmhouse: Strawberry Pavlova
Now that spring has sprung it's time for some tasty desserts. The Seasoned Farmhouse has got you covered with this delicious dessert that's simple to make.
For the Meringue
3 ea egg whites
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sugar
For the whipped cream
1 cup heavy cream
¼ cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the berries
1 qt strawberries
2 tablespoons sugar
For the meringue
Preheat the oven to 200 F
Place the egg whites in the bowl of a mixer fitted with the whip attachment.
Turn the mixer to medium and add the cream of tartar, allow to whip until the egg white get foamy.
Start adding the sugar one tablespoon at a time until all of the sugar is incorporated.
Turn mixer to high and continue to whip until mixture becomes glossy with stiff peaks.
Spoon onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake for three hours or until the meringue is crunchy.
For the cream
Whip the cream with the sugar until it reaches soft peaks, add vanilla. Keep cool until ready to use
For the Strawberries
Cut strawberries as desired and sprinkle with sugar.
Spoon a bit of the cream onto each meringue and then top with strawberries. Garnish with fresh mint if desired.
