Southwest Licking Schools asking for new bond to fund new schools, renovations

Southwest Licking Schools are asking for a 6.7 mill bond on the May 2nd ballot, to help pay for new schools and renovations (WSYX/WTTE)

May 2nd, voters in Central Ohio will be voting on some local races along with several local issues. In Southwest Licking School District that includes a $6.7 million bond issue.

If the new bond passes, it will fund a new high school and elementary school for 4th and 5th graders, along with renovations to current elementary schools. The district says the schools are too small for their growing district, causing overcrowding, and need serious repairs.

Homeowners can expected a $350 tax hike on a $150,000 home.
