10TV, NBC4, ABC6 come together in honor of Chris Bradley
COLUMBUS, Ohio — COLUMBUS, Ohio –10TV (WBNS-TV) and NBC4 (WCMH-TV) and ABC6 (WSYX) are coming together to honor the life of Chris Bradley. All three local television stations are partnering with Be The Match to air a special, raising awareness for bone marrow donation and remembering friend and colleague, Chris Bradley.
Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with a life-threatening blood cancer, according to the Be The Match registry. Often, their only hope for a cure is a blood stem cell transplant. Yet only 30% of patients find a match within their families. That means 70% of patients rely on the kindness of a stranger to potentially save their life.

On Monday, December 10, 10TV, NBC4 and ABC6 is airing “Standing with Chris,” a program promoting the importance of bone marrow donation and show Central Ohio viewers how they can help save lives. Each station’s viewers will be able to call in to speak with Be The Match volunteers.
During the Be The Match drive on behalf of Chris Bradley, we are encouraging community members ages 18-44 to register online as donors so they can offer hope to a patient battling blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma or a life-threatening blood disease such as sickle cell or aplastic anemia. Individuals of diverse ethnic backgrounds are especially needed. There will also be a phone bank from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. where viewers can call to register.
After registering, individuals will receive a swab kit via mail. They swab the insides of their cheeks and return them in the postage paid envelope. Within 6 weeks they will receive a donor registration card in the mail.
“Chris Bradley was an inspiration to all of Central Ohio in sickness and in health. He and his family braved 21 months battling acute myeloid leukemia, a terribly aggressive illness. Yet his courageous journey has touched us all,” said John Cardenas, President and General Manager of WBNS-10TV. “Chris continued to teach us that in spite of our many differences, there is good in all of us when we come together as one -- which is a very powerful message.”
