COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Columbus police officer has been charged with a felony following an incident out of state.
Adam Nguyen, 26, is accused of taking an upskirt video of a minor girl at an anime convention in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont on Sunday.
ABC 6 first reported this week that Nguyen was placed on administrative leave amid an investigation.
Friday, ABC 6 learned more about Nguyen's case, including the formal charge of unauthorized video recording and live video transmission against him.
"Once presented with the evidence, Nguyen admitted to recording the victim without her knowledge or consent," his arrest report said. "He stated he has a problem and was caught while secretly recording up skirt videos of women elsewhere on a previous date. When he had been previously stopped, he was not criminally charged on the condition he delete the videos."
The report also said a friend of the alleged victim saw Nguyen carrying a bag with a video-camera lens protruding through a hole in a bag, which Nguyen was carrying like a suitcase. That friend added that the camera was lowered and pointed "in a position that went directly under the skirt" of the alleged victim.
A CPD spokesperson confirmed to ABC 6 on Wednesday that Nguyen is a two-year veteran of the department.
Also Wednesday, ABC 6 requested Nguyen's personnel file and is still awaiting receipt.
