It was a day of celebration, education, and fun. The city hosted its 3rd annual Juneteenth celebration. The theme for the event, 'rooted in our legacy.'

In 2021, President Joe Biden signed a bill making Juneteenth a federal holiday. It commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans.

"This is a time of fun, family, and fellowship. Why is it important for our children to know about our history? It is important so they truly know who they are. It’s important so we truly embrace our true authentic selves,” Reynoldsburg City Councilwoman Meredith Lawson-Rowe said.
